Police conducted an undercover operation after county residents voiced concern over the illegal sale of vaping products to minors.

The Haverstraw Town Police Department, assisted by the Rockland County Sheriffs Department and the Rockland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, conducted an undercover operation.

The police used a confidential underage buyer to test 12 businesses and see if they complied with the law.

The investigation revealed four businesses out of the twelve investigated sold nicotine to an underage buyer. According to the statement released by Peter G. Murphy, Chief of Police, the four individuals at those businesses were all charged with PL 260.21(3)-Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd (Tobacco).
