Tundra Trucks Recalled in Seventh Toyota Recall of the Year

Mindy Cohn

On Thursday, Toyota issued a voluntary recall for 168,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks in its largest recall of the year over a potential fire risk.

In its seventh Tundra recall of the 2022, and 2023 model year vehicles, Toyota announced it will be recalling specific  models with a plastic fuel tube that could "rub against a brake line and develop a fuel leak." The leak could cause a fire "in the presence of an ignition source."

Toyota will offer a free replacement of the plastic tube when replacement parts become available. In the meantime, Toyota dealers "will install protective materials and a clamp on the fuel tube at no cost to customers."

Owners of the vehicles that are being recalled will be informed by Toyota by early October. Owners who want to check if their Tundra is included in the recall without waiting for the letter can visit Toyota here. and enter either their VIN number or license plate information.
