Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht Visits the Pupa Rov and Local Yeshivas to Address Community Concerns and Safety

 M.C. Millman

With spring in the air, Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht is creating awareness inside our yeshivas by speaking on pedestrian safety to students.

Stressing the importance of taking advantage of the tools that keep pedestrians and cyclists safe, including sidewalks, reflectors, helmets, and crosswalks, the supervisor expects to visit many local yeshivas and schools over the next few weeks. His goal is to deliver his message in person to the student body while answering questions and leaving the students with increased awareness of the importance of utilizing all the tools at our disposal to increase pedestrian safety.

The round of visits to local schools was launched subsequent to a meeting the supervisor had this afternoon with the Pupa Rov of Monsey, which included Chaim Wertzberger, a Pupa community leader, and businessman Meyer Tauber among other lay leaders and activists. Community and neighborhood concerns were discussed before the supervisor visited local yeshivas, including  Munkatch Yeshiva, Pupa Yeshiva, and Yeshiva Degel Hatorah.

"As Town Supervisor," Specht shares with Rockland Daily regarding his visits to local yeshivas, "I want to raise awareness about pedestrian and cycling safety. This is especially important for younger people, and even more so in a Town like ours where the percentage of people under the age of 18 is double that of the State (40 percent in the Town versus 20 percent Statewide). Engaging with students directly brings it home, so to speak, and we plan on visiting many schools throughout the Town in the coming weeks to spread the message and help assure a Safer Ramapo for all."
