Town Of Ramapo And Village Of Spring Valley Pass Elm Street/Twin Avenue Intersection Proposal

By Idy Perl
After years of planning and bureaucratic back and forth, construction
has finally been approved to improve the dangerous intersection at Elm Street and
Twin Avenue in Spring Valley, which has been the site of many accidents and
heavy traffic congestion.
As reported by Rockland Daily a few months ago,
Congressman Mike Lawler took the initiative to finally solve the problem since it had
reached in impasse due to the intersection being under the jurisdiction of both
the Town of Ramapo and the Village of Spring Valley.
With Lawler's encouragement, the necessary traffic studies were completed and around nine
months ago a plan was presented to improve the intersection and make it safer.
Spring Valley Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach was heavily involved in the project’s
success and stepped in to ensure the necessary funding was secured. He refused
to back down when numerous bureaucratic delays cropped up and worked tirelessly to make sure the project stayed on track.
Today a vote was finally passed in both the Village of Spring Valley and the Town of Ramapo to begin construction at the intersection according to the proposal that was presented, and crews are expected to begin working soon.
Spring Valley residents thank Congressman Mike Lawler and his District Director, Rafi Silberberg, for their hard work in bringing officials together and securing funding for the project, Town Supervisor Michael Specht and his Chief of Staff Mona Montal, as well as to Spring Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach, without whom the project would not have been possible.
Thank you to the trustees who voted in favor of the project and whose support was crucial in ensuring its approval: Trustee R' Yisroel Eisenbach, Trustee R' Asher Grossman, and Trustee R' Shmuel Smith.
