Town of Clarkstown Cancels Proposal to Change Term Limits

Town of Clarkstown Cancels Proposal to Change Term Limits

 M.C. Millman

In a Town Board Meeting update earlier today, the Town of Clarkstown announced that the suggested proposals to change Town Term Limits had been withdrawn from the previously scheduled agenda for tonight's meeting.

Clarkstown informed residents that there would be no public hearing or vote regarding term limits. The statement declared that Public Hearings 3 and 4 were canceled, and Resolution #2 was withdrawn.

If the term limit resolution is permanently withdrawn, Clarkstown will remain the only Town in Rockland County to insure that elected officials may only serve a maximum of eight years in any one elected post.

As of now, there are no plans for the proposal to be reintroduced at a future date, but residents feel that might change.
