Thousands of Skverer Chassidim Will Celebrate Founding of Kiryas Skver in Bethel

This week of parashas Shemini, will see history marked within the annals of the Skverer chassidus, as thousands of chassidim will celebrate the founding of a new shtetl in Upstate New York. 

On Sunday, a special event will take place in the new shtetl for those who have donated $12,000 and above toward the development of this new outpost of Torah and chassidus. The Skverer Rebbe will make his way upstate, and daven the first tefillah within the structure that will serve as a magnificent shul for this community. 

The Rebbe will pour the cornerstone for the new mikvah as well, and recite special perokim of Tehillim for this occasion. Rav Moshe Wolfson, shlit”a, is scheduled to come and speak in honor of this occasion. 

On Monday, an official event will take place in New Square for the founding of this shtetl. This event is for all the chassidim. The Rebbe will speak to the chassidim in honor of this occasion, and the Rebbe of Skulen-Monsey will speak at this event as well. 

This comes as feverish work is going on in all Skverer locales to prepare for the move of hundreds of chassidim to this new shtetl which will soon become a center of Torah and chassidus on the American landscape.
