Thirteen NY Routes Axed By JetBlue

Thirteen NY Routes Axed By JetBlue

by M.C. Millman

JetBlue has announced that it will discontinue thirteen routes in the New York area.

This includes the popular Newark Liberty International Airport to Miami International Airport route that picks up steam over winter.

Other routes that will begin to get phased out over the next few weeks by JetBlue include  Newark Liberty International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport.

Flights out of JFK that are being dropped include those to Burlington International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Flights from LaGuardia Airport that are being dropped include those to L.F. Wade International Airport (Bermuda), Nashville International Airport, Charleston International Airport, Denver International Airport, Cape Cod Gateway Airport, Jacksonville International Airport, Portland International Jetport, and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport is also being dropped.

The Points Guy reports that JetBlue's decision is based on two critical factors, one being air traffic control staffing challenges at these locations. The second factor is the dissolution of  American Airlines with the Northeast Alliance.

JetBlue customers who have already booked flights that will be canceled due to the route changes will have the option of getting a ticket for an alternative flight or getting a full refund from the airline.
