Suspicious Package Causes Concern at Ramapo Police Station

By Idy Perl
On Monday evening a large response from local emergency services was caused by the contents of a suspicious envelope that was delivered to a local resident.
The resident brought the envelope, which was filled with an unknown white powder, to the Ramapo Police Station on Monday evening, where it immediately sparked concern and was isolated. The Rockland County HAZMAT team, Tallman Fire Department, FBI, and the US Postal Inspection Service were called to the scene to help identify the substance. After running several tests the substance was confirmed to be non-harmful.
Ramapo Police advises residents who receive something suspicious in the mail not to touch, smell, or transport it, and if someone gets in contact with it they should wash their hands with soap and water. If the item is brought inside it should be isolated and the police should be called immediately
