Suffern Police Department Detective Promoted

Suffern Police Department Detective Andrew Yorke and Police Officer O Michael Careswell were promoted to the rank of Sergeant at this week's Village Board Meeting.

Sergeant Yorke has served the Village of Suffern Police Department as a sworn police officer since 2014. Prior to that, he served the Village of Suffern as a Police Dispatcher and the New York City Police Department as a Police Officer. As a Detective, Sergeant Yorke investigated a number of complex cases, advocating strongly for crime victims. Sergeant Yorke has also served as a member of Rockland County Intel, where he has contributed to a variety of county-wide law enforcement operations. 

Sergeant Careswell has served the Village of Suffern Police Department since 2014. Prior to that, he served with the Amtrak Police Department. Sergeant Careswell is the department’s firearms and Taser instructor. He has also trained a number of our officers as a Field Training Officer.  As a member of the patrol division, Sergeant Careswell has made a number of proactive DWI arrests. Sergeant Careswell is a US Army Veteran, including a combat deployment to Iraq, where he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge.
