Stony Point Man Arrested for Criminal Sale of Ghost Gun

Rockland Daily Staff

Following an investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, Robert Muntz, 42, of Stony Point, has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (Felony) and one count of Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the third degree (Felony)

In October of 2022, Robert Muntz was in possession of a 9mm pistol, a ghost gun, which contained no serial number. He sold the gun to a Rockland County Drug Task Force agent. The defendant is not a registered firearms dealer and was not authorized to sell the pistol.

A "ghost gun" is an unserialized and untraceable firearm that can be purchased and assembled at home and is often sold in kits, which include all the equipment necessary to build a functioning weapon.

District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, "Day and night, members of the Rockland County District Attorney's Office Drug Task Force are out in the community working tirelessly to identify and arrest individuals selling drugs and guns. My office is dedicated to holding any individual accountable for their actions that endanger the residents of Rockland County. I would like to thank the Haverstraw Police Department and the DEA Group D43 for their assistance in this investigation."

Robert Muntz was arraigned by Judge Ivonne Santos in the Town of Haverstraw Justice Court on January 23, 2022. His next court appearance will be on February 9, 2023.
