Stamp of Disapproval: USPS Will Raise Postage Prices in July

First-class stamps will cost 66 cents as of July 9 after the U.S. Postal Service increased the price by 4.8% from the current 63-cent price, which went up in January as reported by Rockland Daily here. 

Postcards sent within the U.S. will cost 51 cents rather than the current price of 48 cents. International letters will cost  5 cents more at $1.50.

The fifth price increase since 2019 was announced in April and represents a 32% increase in the cost of a first-class stamp in 2019. Given the 20% cost of inflation, many are wondering why there should be such a significant increase. All of this, while the USPS is offering noticeably less bang for its buck given that the delivery standard for mail has gone down to six days to any destination within the U.S. instead of the prior three-day delivery goal.
