A Rockland County Court jury convicted Spring Valley resident Darius Williams on Monday of slashing a man across the face with a box cutter.

The incident occurred on July 12, 2022, at 6:08 p.m. when the thirty-four-year-old slashed a man walking down Broadway in the Village of Haverstraw when Williams approached a couple and slashed the man across the face on the left side near his temple. There was no motive or provocation, and neither had known each other before the attack.

Williams faces up to seven years each in prison for both felony counts of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Judge Kevin Russo could sentence Williams to concurrent or consecutive terms.
