Speaker of the House Extends Personal Mazel Tov to the Skverer Rebbe

By M.C. Millman

In a letter hand delivered by Congressman Mike Lawler on the occasion of the Skverer Rebbe's granddaughter's chasuna last night, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy extended a warm mazel tov to the Rebbe.

During last Thursday's final session of Congress before the summer session, Lawler mentioned plans to attend the Skverer rebbe's granddaughter's chasunah in New Square the following week. Speaker McCarthy took the opportunity to send a personal letter to the Rebbe.

"Mazel Tov," the Speaker wrote, "on this joyous occasion of your granddaughter's wedding. Your guidance and wisdom have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping your granddaughter's life and guiding her to this moment. Today you can take pride in witnessing her take this next step.

"It was a pleasure being in New Square with you, your family, and your wonderful community recently. Sending my best wishes for a blessed and unforgettable wedding day!"

"I don't think there's ever been such a close tie with the Orthodox community having a direct channel to the Speaker of House," Rafi Silberberg, District Director for Congressman Lawler, tells Rockland Daily. Since the Speaker's first memorable visit to New Square, the relationship has continued as it was an experience he's never forgotten."

As proof of his words, Silberberg noted the picture sent to McCarthy from New Square, which graces a prominent spot in the Speaker's office and which Speaker McCarthy makes reference to upon occasion.
