Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Offers Rockland Seniors Free Produce

by M.C. Millman
Rockland's Community Outreach Center is distributing coupons for the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program to income-qualified seniors.
The coupons, valid at farmers markets around the county, have a twenty-five dollar value and are available for low-income seniors ages 62 and above.
"I would like to thank the Rockland County Office for aging," Rabbi Hersh Horowitz, COC Executive Director, shares with Rockland Daily, "for arranging these coupons. While some might say the amount isn't overly substantial, every little bit counts, especially when it comes to a program that encourages our seniors to focus on healthy eating and provides the tools to go about it at the same time."
While supplies last, the coupons can be picked up at the COC office located at 21 Remsen Avenue, from Monday through Thursday from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. or on Fridays from 10:00 am to noon.
Local farmers markets carry fresh produce and other items available to savvy shoppers. Rockland locations include.
