Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick paid a visit to the Monsey Health Center in honor of National Health Center Week.
The senator, joined by his Chief of Staff Max Cordella, toured the Robert Pitt Drive facility on Wednesday, August 10, to better understand the health center's vast array of services. The health center tour included a visit to the center's mobile medical unit. This unit serves a vital role by traveling to multiple facilities in the county. It also provides clinical care to homebound or nonambulatory patients.
Next, Reichlin-Melnick and Cordella toured the facility itself. They were guided by medical director Dr. Sarah R. Vaiselbluh. Dr. Vaiselbluh introduced the senator and his chief of staff to the center's team of providers. She explained the urgent need for expansion in all facility areas to help meet the needs of the growing population and provide access to diagnostic testing and medical care.
“My recent visit deepened my appreciation for the breadth of services that Community Medical and Dental Care provides," Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick shared with Rockland Daily. "I had the opportunity to hear individually from the directors of each department about the care they provide to a wide range of Rockland residents who speak many different languages. One of the important lessons of the pandemic is the critical role of local healthcare professionals. Trusted local resources like the Monsey Health Center are essential for the health and safety of our community.”
The Monsey Health Center concluded the visit with a gala luncheon attended by staff, board members, and providers. Luncheon participants had the chance to speak about the services they provide at Monsey Health Center and expounded on the need for expansion in their departments.
The senator indicated significant interest in partnering with the health facility and helping them with the necessary funding to expand.
