Rockland Sheriff Department Participates In Bomb Disposal Exercises

By Idy Perl
Earlier this month the Rockland County Sheriff department participated in a multi-agency bomb disposal exercise led by the MTA PD and the NYS Division of Homeland Security at Grand Central Madison. Some of the other participants included the New York State Police Bomb Disposal Unit, New Jersey State Police, NYPD, Nassau County PD, Suffolk County PD, Westchester County PD, Amtrak PD, TSA, and NYS Office of Emergency Management.
The exercises, which took place during the early hours of the morning, included drills on bomb disposal and hostage rescue scenarios in high traffic areas like Grand Central Station.
Experts from the FBI and NJSP trained in bomb disposal narrated and explained scenarios while officers and heads from the various agencies watched from controlled locations.
