Rockland’s Refuah Health Center Donates Mobile Clinic to Haiti

Rockland Daily Staff
Hundreds in Haiti can receive desperately needed medical care thanks to a newly retrofitted Winnebago RV mobile medical clinic donated through the collaborative efforts of RefuahHealth, Konbit Neg Lakay, and Rockland County Haiti Relief – two community-based organizations dedicated to assisting new and established Haitian immigrants.
The mobile clinic will provide safety net medical services to Haiti residents who are still grappling with the devastation caused by the 2021 quake which struck the Tiburon Peninsula, 77 miles west of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. The natural disaster left 650,000 people in need of assistance and caused more damage than the 2010 earthquake.
The Rockland County Haiti Relief & Refuah Care Mobile will travel on a monthly rotation, making one-week stops in four different cities with a staff of seven. Services are available to any Haitian in need. The clinic staff saw about 200 patients in the first two days of operations in Grand-Goâve.
While Haiti’s government is focused on the current cholera outbreak, there is an additional need for the safety net medical treatments the mobile clinic provides.
