Rockland Responds: Village of Spring Valley Trustee Sruly Eisenbach Responds to Safer Sidewalk Inquiry

To the Village of Spring Valley,

Here in Spring Valley, when a sidewalk is broken, or roots of trees pick up a sidewalk, it's dangerous to walk. Is there a Village number to call to fix it? How do we go about it? ( I think in the city, they call 311, but no idea what to do here in Spring Valley.)

Also, if there is a big bush sticking out of the property like the one at the corner of Park Street and Ridge Avenue in Spring Valley, which makes it very unsafe to cross, especially for kids, since you need to be on the road to see if a car coming, who do we call about that?

Thank you,

R Herzog

Dear Homeowner,

Generally, the homeowners are responsible for sidewalk repairs, as defined in Village code SECTION 229-18. However, I suggest you contact the Mayor's assistant, Regi Anderson, at 845-352-1100 Ext. 128 to see if there's something the Village can do.

Regarding the overgrown bushes, I suggest you contact Adam McCarey from the Building Department at 845-352-1100 Ext. 112, and he will send out code enforcement to those who need to be made aware of the need to trim the bushes.

Best regards,

Sruly Eisenbach

Village of Spring Valley Trustee
