Rockland Holds September 11th Memorial Ceremonies

Rockland Daily Staff

County officials joined family members, first responders, and others to mark the twenty-second anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks at various locations throughout Rockland County.

During this morning's commemoration, which took place at Haverstraw Bay Park, family members read the names of the Rockland County victims. The reading was followed by a tolling of the bell, and a moment of silent prayer at 8:46 a.m. in remembrance of the attack on the North Tower of the World Trade Center and again at 9:03 a.m. in memory of the attack on the South Tower. Five more bells tolled in remembrance of the attack on the Pentagon, the collapse of the South Tower, the crash of Flight 93 into Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the collapse of the North Tower, and the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.

Additional 9-11 Remembrance Ceremonies scheduled to take place throughout the day include ceremonies at the Spring Valley Village Hall,  Town of Clarkstown Hall, Ramapo Town Hall, Memorial Park in the Village of Nyack, Stony Point Town Hall, Village Hall of Suffern, Pack's Pond Park in the Village of West Haverstraw and Tappan Green in the Town of Orangetown.
