Rockland County Seeks Federal Assistance to Address Immigrant Crisis

by Rockland Daily Staff

On Thursday, Rockland County lawmakers joined the growing list of municipalities who are asking the federal government to assist in providing basic services to the ongoing flood of immigrants from the southern border.

The county is seeing its resources dwindling as the recent wave of immigrants into the area continues unabated.

An exact number has not been given, but local food pantries  say they are seeing a thirty percent increase in demand, according to ABC7.

"This is not about attacking immigrants," Senator Mike Lawler was quoted by ABC7. "This is not about attacking migrants; this is about understanding the very real challenges that municipalities across New York and across the country are facing,"
