Rockland County Building Official Firmly Denies Role in Evergreen Fire

One year following the Evergreen Court Fire last March, which
claimed the life of firefighter Jared Lloyd, and placed the lives of 100
residents of the adult home in danger, Wayne Ballard insists the DA’s charges
against him are without merit.
In court papers filed by his legal team, Ballard asks the
judge to dismiss the charges, which include filing false inspection reports
with the state.
The papers assert that the Rockland County’s District
Attorney’s office committed misconduct in presenting their case to the grand
jury, saying they did not present a "single supporting piece of
documentary evidence or testimony to the grand jury...”
Other defendants are likewise fighting severe charges from this event, using similar arguments as the Ballard legal team.
