REMINDER: This Motzei Shabbos we Spring Forward

by YS Gold
In yet another harbinger of the approaching spring, this Motzei Shabbos at 2:00 am, all clocks move forward by one hour, beginning ‘daylight saving time.’ This will mean extended daylight hours beginning Sunday, a longer Erev Shabbos, and a shorter Motzei Shabbos.
Fire departments have begun to utilize this occasion as a reminder for people to check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors—devices that can save lives—as they are changing their clocks.
For frum Jews, this clock adjustment brings changes to zmanim of krias shemah and tefillah as well, beginning on Sunday morning.
