Recovered! Brand New BMW Stolen in Airmont Recovered in Newark With Help of Chaverim of Rockland

A new black 2024 BMW X7/M60, brazenly stolen from an Airmont driveway yesterday morning, was located in Newark.

The car owner of less than two weeks believes the larcenists were driving a BMW X5 when they followed him home. The Airmont resident went inside momentarily to drop off something. By the time he got back outside, the thieves had already driven off with his car.

The BMW's owner immediately called Chaverim and the Ramapo Police Department, who were able to track the vehicle with the installed tracker. They noted the car thieves stopped at the Sunoco gas station on 17 South in New Jersey, where they disabled the GPS tracker.

Chaverim volunteers continued their search for the car, sending four teams throughout the night to Newark to track down the stolen vehicle after a tip was called in to Chaverim yesterday afternoon from a caller who had spotted the car in Newark.  

After a criminal incident in Newark in which the BMW was involved today, Chaverim was able to close in on the car's location even though the thieves had tried to disguise the BMW by putting on license plates from another vehicle.

Chaverim was already working closely with the police department in Newark, so after the car was noted at a robbery scene, the police moved in to catch the car thieves, who were subsequently arrested.
