Rash of Car Robberies in Rockland

by Chana Weinman
Nearly thirty cars were broken into Friday night
throughout Rockland, with the thief breaking windows or opening doors to steal
whatever he found inside the vehicles.
Despite having twelve Chaverim Shabbos patrol vehicles
patrolling the streets of Rockland, the car-break-ins continue to proliferate
with each passing Shabbos, increasing at an even faster clip as the holiday
season gets closer.
After reviewing the video surveillance footage, Yossi
Margareten, Chaverim of Rockland coordinator says he believes the thief is a
man that is familiar to both Chaverim and the police department due to past
thefts of the same nature.
Victims of Friday night's thefts report that they are
missing multiple items including cellphones, cash, and a GPS.
Rockland residents are reminded to lock vehicle doors and to
never leave valuables in a car especially not in sight of anyone looking into
the vehicle.
As for the future - "Our plan is to add more Shabbos
patrol vehicles next Shabbos," Yossi Margaretten, Chaverim of Rockland coordinator,
shares with Rockland Daily.
