Ramapo Police Participates In "No Empty Chair" Driving Safety Initiative

This week the Ramapo Police Department will be taking part in the "No Empty Chair" safety initiative, a project of the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

The weeklong project will focus on safe teen driving as thousands of students prepare to celebrate the end of the school year. As graduation celebrations draw closer, the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee aims to reduce tragedies and ensure that there is "No Empty Chair" by any school ceremonies. 

Each day of the 5-day initiative will focus on a different aspect on driving safety: 

  • Monday, April 21, 2025- Speeding in School Zones
  • Tuesday, April 22, 2025- Seatbelt/Child Restraints
  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025-Cell phone/ texting 
    • Thursday, April 24, 2025 - Operation Safe Stop
    • Friday, April 25, 2025- Underage Drinking/Impaired Driving
