Pedestrian Bridge Under Construction for Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge

A 270-foot-long pedestrian/bicycle bridge is coming to the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, according to an announcement by the New York State Thruway Authority and New York State Department of Transportation.
The new bridge is part of a $13.9 million multimodal project that began in spring 2023. Other aspects of the project include extending the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge side path one mile south to Lyndhurst Mansion, adding a second left turn lane from South Broadway to the southbound Thruway entrance ramp, installing a traffic signal on Route 9 at Paulding Avenue to make it safer to turn left, among other improvements for residents, motorists, visitors, and area businesses.
Construction for the pedestrian bridge will begin on Route 9 in Tarrytown this week and will continue for approximately 6 weeks. The construction will cause lane reductions and traffic changes on Route 9 as assembly of the bridge progresses.
