OU and CRC Issue Joint Statement Affirming Kashrus of Meat Sold at Bingo
Following the spread of malicious rumors on Sunday casting doubt upon the kashrus of the meat sold at Bingo Supermarkets, the kashrus organizations who certify Birdsboro meat and poultry—the only meat and poultry sold at the discount supermarket chain—issued a clear affirmation verifying their kashrus.
The baseless rumors put out by anonymous sources who cited the cheap prices of the meat as proof that there was something amiss with the kashrus.
In a joint statement issued by the Orthodox Union and the CRC, the Kashrus arm of the Hisachdus Harabanim, they state the following:
“Kosher consumers are advised that beef producerd by Birdsboro Kosher Farms Corp and sold in Bingo Supermarkets continues to be certified by the Orthodox Union and CRC, and that the beef is Glatt kosher l’Mehadrin.
“Both the Orthodox Union and CRC are involved in every stage of the shechita, bedika, nikur, and soaking and salting of the beef, and confirm that it is produced at the highest standard of kashrus.
“In addition, the Orthodox Union and CRC also certify the meat departments of all three branches of Bingo Supermarket, and verify that only Birdsboro Glatt beef is used in these stores.”
