New Traffic Light Installed in Monsey After Safety Concerns Abound Over the Years

by Rockland Daily Staff

After a series of car accidents and pedestrians struck at the crossroads, the Town of Ramapo Highway Department has installed a temporary traffic light at a dangerous intersection in Monsey.

"The Town of Ramapo installed a temporary traffic light at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Howard Drive this morning," Supervisor Michael Specht shares with Rockland Daily. "This new light will enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

"I had previously visited the site and spoken with local residents to see the situation firsthand. We will monitor the impact of the temporary light over the next few weeks and move forward with a permanent plan for that intersection.

"I want to thank Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn and his Department for quickly installing the light, and Town employees Josh Hans and Yossi Margaretten for working to make this happen."

A final plan on how to proceed with making the crosswords safer in a more permanent fashion will be based on a study of the effectiveness of the temporary traffic light.
