New Square's Ershte Hilf Holds Electric Safety Training Event

by M.C. Millman

New Square Emergency Service (NSES)- Ershte Hilf held an electric safety training with Orange and Rockland on Thursday night.

The training session, which NSES Coordinator Zevy Spitzer arranged, took place at NSES headquarters on Jefferson Avenue and covered various safety issues that the emergency workers could run into regarding electricity. The guidance was about keeping both the NSES volunteers and bystanders safe. Topics covered included what to do when coming across wires, a transformer or poles that are down, and the safest way to allow people trapped in a house or car to escape. It also included information on contacting O&R when an electrical turnoff is required for a given area.

"O&R is always outstanding," Yakov Yosef Soifer, NSES Coordinator, shares with Rockland Daily. "They are on call 24/7. We have all their numbers available to call anytime. They are amazing, and we appreciate the strong working relationship immensely!"
