by M.C. Millman
The Leapfrog Group released their Hospital Safety Grades for spring 2024 on Wednesday, April 30.
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps for patient safety. The organization uses an academic grading scale with five letter grades, from A to F, to score nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide on more than 30 patient safety measures.
There are only four hospitals within a 10-mile radius of Monsey, and only one, The Valley Hospital in Paramus, received an 'A' rating as it did in 2023. Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center received a 'B' rating, which was the same in 2023. Good Samaritan Hospital received the lowest rating of the four, with a 'C' rating. Montefiore Nyack Hospital received a 'C' rating, which is a drop from last year's 'B' rating.
The hospitals receiving the top letter grade in the Hudson Valley were Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, which received an 'A,' as did White Plains Hospital in White Plains.
