Long Anticipated 329 Area Code for Rockland County to Launch March 24

After announcing last year, as reported in Rockland Daily here, that Rockland County's 845 regions would be assigned a new 329 area code - the big day is almost here for the rollout. 

The new 329 area codes will begin on March 24, 2023. With new telephone numbers in high demand, the New York Public Service Commission approved implementing the new 329 area code to overlay the existing 845 area code region.

The 329 area code will co-exist everywhere in this region with the 845 area code. Presently, the 845 area code serves all or parts of Rockland, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, OrangeRockland, Sullivan, Ulster counties, and a portion of Westchester County.

Starting on March 24, 2023, customers requesting new numbers or new telephone lines in the existing 845 area code overlay region may be assigned the new 329 area code. Customers assigned a 329 area code will be required to dial the area code and phone number for all local calls, as is the case for customers with telephone numbers from the 845 area code.
