Governor Kathy Hochul paid a visit to Rockland County on Sunday, October 23, meeting with several leaders of prominent Chassidic sects at key locations throughout the county in a final-hour bid to win votes before the November 8 election.

One meeting took place at the Community Outreach Center and included community leaders and menahalim of numerous local mosdos. Meetings also took place with the Skverer Rebbe; New Square school administrators in the Village, Viznitz askanim; and the Satmar Rebbe, Reb Aaron Teitelbaum (who was in Forshay).

Discussions with each group focused on topics of specific interest to the communities represented, including yeshiva education, hospital visitation rights, the unchecked rise of anti-Semitism, and the Kiryas Joel water pipeline, among other issues.

Republican Representative Lee Zeldin, is reported to be holding a narrow lead over Hochul according to the latest poll reported on Friday by polling firm co/efficient. The poll showed Zeldin was supported by 46 percent of votes from likely voters compared to 45 percent for Hochul. Nine percent of respondents said they were still unsure of how they would vote. The poll has a reported error margin of 3.31 percent.
