Four Spring Valley Police Department Officers Receive Award for Heroic Act

Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick and the Spring Valley Village Board presented four Spring Valley police officers with the 2022 NYS Senate Commendation Award for preventing a suicide jumper incident.

On September 20, officers Jordan and Ungar were first to arrive at the overpass on Route 59 in Spring Valley. A visibly upset woman was standing on a narrow ledge with a one-hundred-foot drop. Officer Eveyln and Officer Dziedzic helped Officer Jordan and Officer Ungar bring the woman back over the ledge.

The four officers worked together tirelessly to successfully bring the woman to safety. They were presented with the award on November 1.  

Officer Eli Ungar has also received a new position as a detective for the Spring Valley Police Department.
