Finkelstein Library Budget and Trustee Vote Tomorrow Includes Frum Candidate

Tomorrow, Finkelstein Memorial Library's budget vote and a trustee vote that includes a frum candidate will take place. 

Esther Waldman, a Monsey resident and a frum educator, is seeking a trustee position. Her goal is to work on making the library more accessible to foreign children and adults while offering easier access to quality Jewish literature and language and literacy enrichment for children. 

"As an educator and advocate for literacy and language development in children," Esther shares with Rockland Daily. "I understand the value of access to quality books. When people ask me what they can do to help their children's language and literacy development, I always tell them, 'Read, read, read to your kids!' Gifting our children the rich language in literature helps to grow their vocabulary, their comprehension, and their ability to think deeply about concepts. This ultimately helps them when they are in school learning anything from basic reading and math concepts to Navi or gemara. It doesn't matter what language you read in or what the book is about; a parent and child sitting together over a book creates a love of books, a passion for education, and a thirst for knowledge. But not everyone has access to the kind of literature they want to read to their children. So that is where the library comes in. I hope to use my position as a trustee to foster enrichment and education of children throughout our community.."

The vote will take place on Tuesday, May 7, from 7 a.m. -  9 p.m. at the Finkelstein Memorial Library Fielding Room (3rd Floor) 

Any registered voter who lives in the East Ramapo School district is eligible to vote at the library on Tuesday.
