Exclusive: From Crisis to Kallah - Senator Weber Is Here in Any Case

by M.C. Millman

Senator Bill  Weber and Michael Rydelek, Senator Weber's Director of Constituent Services, attended the wedding of South Monsey resident Meira Cohen this week at Valley Terrace Hall on College Road in Suffern.

The Senator and his director of constituent services were treated as honored guests after two months of collaboration in bringing Rockland Residents home.

Meira Cohen had relatives in Israel when Hamas attacked Israeli citizens on October 7. She worked the phones to get her brother, his friends, and neighbors home safely. She collaborated closely with Rydelek to get the job done.

With Meira's invaluable help, Senator Weber's office kept the governor up to speed in live time with the list of Rocklanders stuck in Israel after the Senator's first Zoom call on October 13 with the governor. During the call, the Governor and Senator promised to work together to get New Yorkers back home, especially the eighteen from the 38th Senate District represented by Senator Weber.

The Senator's office even managed to locate a trained Israeli pilot and inquired about chartering a plane should the need arise.

"Celebrating such a meaningful occasion with someone whose grassroots efforts have meant so much to so many people was a pleasure," Senator Bill Weber shares exclusively with Rockland Daily. "People like Meira rise to the occasion, see a need, and step in to fill that void. I am honored to have worked alongside such an inspirational young woman, and I wish her only the best in the future with her new husband."
