Enoki Mushrooms Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

Rockland Daily Staff
Utopia Foods Inc of Glendale, NY, has expanded its recall on enoki mushrooms distributed in NY, NJ, and CT to produce wholesale companies due to a possible listeria risk.
The recall is for the 200-gram packages of enoki mushrooms with clear and blue plastic packages imported from China with the bar code 8928918610017. Packages distributed between January 6 to January 13, 2023, with clear markings of “Best before 03/02/2023” or “Best before 03.09.23” are said to have the potential of being contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
According to the FDA, Listeria is "an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms, Listeria infection can be damaging for some.
Consumers who have purchased the item are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers with questions about the mushrooms may contact the company at 718-389-8898.
