Drivers Should Beware After Armed Car Jacking in New Hempstead

An armed carjacking took place on the corner of South Gate and Manchester Drive in New Hempstead last week.
The driver of a grey 2020 Alfa Romeo was rear-ended around 11 p.m. on Thursday night. When he got out of the car, the armed pair behind him took the car, which belonged to a friend of the driver, and drove off with it.
"The police came to my door at midnight," said a resident of Manchester Drive. "They saw I had a Nest and asked for footage. The driver, who lives on Viola Road, ran to the house across from me when they pulled out weapons. "
The car was found the following morning in Paterson.
"We have such a quiet neighborhood," a New Hempstead resident shared with Rockland Daily. "It is so disturbing to realize we are not as safe as we would like to think. I hope the police are investigating this and the motives as to how these villains ended up in our neighborhood to begin with."
