Decades of Chesed Appreciated at Tomche Shabbos 28th Annual Dinner

by Rockland Daily Staff

The 28th Annual Dinner of Tomche Shabbos took place on Sunday, January 18, at the Atrium Plaza, with proceeds of this year's dinner going to fund the organization's Pesach campaign.

Tomche Shabbos of Rockland County offers weekly food packages delivered discreetly at night to 550 families who would not be able to prepare for Shabbos without them. Twice each year, before Sukkos and Pesach, Tomche Shabbos expands this service to include over 900 destitute families, who receive large deliveries of multiple boxes filled with food and Yom Tov necessities.

But Tomche Shabbos offers much more than just food packages. The organization is there to restore water and electricity to families whose utilities have been shut off or cover mounting medical debt for those crumbling under the financial burden of serious illness. The Partners in Parnosoh program offers adult education classes that provide extensive training in business skills and various computer programs, as well as assistance with resumes and job placements, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Alan Rosenstock, the Director of Tomche Shabbos, addressed the crowd, sharing three moving letters received from Rockland aniyim over the course of the year who Tomche Shabbos was there to help.

Honorees included Guests of Honor Mr. and Mrs. Moshe Mindick, Community Service Award recipient Avi Goldstein and the Allen Nussbaum Award for Excellence awarded to Mr. Moshe Kolodney.

Musical entertainment was provided by Joey Newcomb, and a mentalist performed as well.

The evening concluded with attendees feeling inspired and uplifted, with a renewed appreciation for the amazing organization that we are so blessed to have in our community.
