County Executive Issues Statement on Swastikas Found in Sanzer Shul

By M. C. Millman

When mispallelim came to daven on Friday night at the Sanzer Bais Medrash on Suzanne Drive in Monsey, swastikas were found drawn behind a coat rack, on a wall, under a metal counter where coffee is made, and scratched deeply onto a computer screen. Clothing was also found torn.

"I am appalled by the anti-Semitic vandalism found inside a Monsey synagogue," County Executive Ed Day issued a statement on Tuesday morning, June 21. "Any act of hate is an insult to our entire County and will not be tolerated, and I am confident the Town of Ramapo Police Department and Rockland County Sheriff's Office will get to the bottom of whoever is responsible for these incidents."

The Ramapo Police Department, Rockland Sheriff Department, and Rockland County Chaverim were called to the scene on Sunday morning. The police took pictures and are presently reviewing security footage and tracking leads with the help of Chaverim in order to identify apprehend and charge those responsible.

"I am glad that the Town of Ramapo Police Department and the Rockland County Sheriffs Department both took this incident seriously," Yossi Gestetner, co-founder of OJPAC told Rockland Daily. "I am confident they will get to the bottom of it."
