Children Discover Abandoned Loaded 22-Caliber Gun in Spring Valley

by M.C. Millman

The Spring Valley Police Department is investigating an incident where a loaded 22-caliber gun abandoned in front of a residence on Twin Avenue was found by children waiting for their bus this morning.

According to a neighbor who spoke with Rockland Daily, the gun was fully loaded with the safety off. When a mother waiting with one of the children noticed one of the boys pointing a gun around and directly at other children, she made sure he dropped it and then called Chaverim of Rockland. Chaverim notified the police.

The block has had continued problems with one particular house on the street. One such instance was reported in Rockland Daily here. The neighbor, therefore, suggested that the gun would most likely be traced back to that location.

The Rockland County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Investigation is involved in the investigation along with the police department.
