Chernovitzer Beis Medrash Opens Doors in Monsey
Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim will mark the inaugural Shabbos for the Chernovitzer Shtiebel in Monsey—the latest spiritual outpost in an expanding Monsey community. The Chernovitzer dynasty heartens back to the holy Be’er Mayim Chaim who lived in Chernovitz, Ukraine, and authored the aforementioned Sefer, as well as the legendary sidduro Shel Shabbos, one of the most important seforim of the chassidic movement. The Chernovitzer Rebbe has led his beis Medrash in Williamsburg for decades, becoming known for his exceptional warmth, and his inspiring oratory. This week, his son, Rav Uri (named for his ancestor, Rav Uri of Strelisk) Shneelbag, will the Monsey branch of the chassidus, launching in the Satmar yeshiva K’tana, on the corner of Maple Avenue and Phyllis Terrace. With its expected growth, the Chernovitzer Beis Medrash will likely soon acquire its own place. A festive kiddush will be served in honor of the establishment of this new Monsey kehillah, on this Shabbos Mevorchim Adar.
