Bullets and Other Projectiles Shot at Visibly Orthodox Jews Walking in Main Monsey

Bullets and Other Projectiles Shot at Visibly Orthodox Jews Walking in Main Monsey

When the first call came in on Motzei Shabbos, July 16, from an agitated woman who had been pushing her baby in a stroller in the Maple Avenue/Route 306 area, the Ramapo Police Department responded promptly to the call. The woman reported eggs had been lobbed at her by the occupant of a passing white truck.

Shortly after, another incident was called in. Two women, also in the area of Route 306, reported being struck by what is believed to have been a BB gun. One of the women was treated and released by Hatzoloh after reporting pain at the impact site of the pellet.

After reviewing camera footage from the general area of the incidents, the Ramapo Police Department discovered an additional incident had taken place on Maple Avenue earlier than the other two reported events. In the video, an unidentified Orthodox male is seen walking before he is struck by what is presumed to be BB pellets. The same, newer model white Ford F150 is seen in video footage of each attack.

"Ramapo Police Department is aware of the incidents and has increased patrols in the area," says Detective Sargeant Michael Higgins. "We encourage anyone who has been a victim of crime to call the Ramapo Police Department immediately."

Similar incidents of this nature have occurred in the area in the past, although nothing of this nature recently, the Ramapo Police Department shared with Rockland Daily. It is possible that other pedestrians were also targeted on Motzei Shabbos. The public is urged to come forward with any information they might have about any incidents from Motzi Shabbos as well as any other times similar events might have occurred.

"If people want law enforcement to act," Yossi Gestetner, co-founder of OJPAC, shares with Rockland Daily readers, "these incidents need to be reported with as many details and as much video evidence possible. Even those who think they personally don't 'mind' being a victim of such attacks, reports need to be filed so that the perps can be held accountable with the hope of avoiding the next attack."

Any victims or witnesses with information, pictures, or videos should reach out to the detective bureau of the Ramapo Police Department at 845-357-2400.
