BDE: Reb Osher Anshil Babad, z”l

Rockland Daily regrets to inform you of the passing of Reb Osher Anshel Babad, a scion of Rabbonim who spent his life in proximity to tzaddikim and to the precious tinnokos shel bais Rabban. He was 72 years of age. 

The niftar hailed from the holy dynasty of the Minchas Chinuch, Rav Yosef Babad ABD Tarnopol, zt”l, and would spend his life in klei kodesh, immersed in avodas hakodesh. 

Reb Osher Anshel was an ardent Viznitzer Chossid, and served as the longtime gabbai of the Toras Mordechai of Viznitz Monsey. 

He was also a longtime melamed in the mosdos of Viznitz Monsey. Talmidim from throughout the decades recall a loving rebbi whose love and dedication to his talmidim was only matched by his yiras Shomayim and ahavas haTorah. 

For many years, he worked for the mosdos Chessed L’Avrohom, founded by the Skulener Rebbe to bring the secular children of Eretz Yisroel closer to their Father in Heaven. “Reb Osher Anshel’s dedication to the mossad and to the Skulener Rebbe—of whom he considered himself a chossid—knew no bounds,” recalled someone who worked with him at the mosad. 

He was a prominent and respected presence in Viznitz, well-known for his ehrlichkeit and yiras Shomayim.

The niftar suffered a stroke some time ago and was niftar in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving behind beautiful generations. 

The Levaya will take place in front of the Viznitzer beis medrash on Phyllis Terrace in Monsey at 10:30 , with kevurah at the Viznitzer beis hachaim.
