Assemblyman Mike Lawler expressed how honored and humbled he felt by the support his win represents and vowed to stand by the promises made during his campaign, which began a mere six months ago, when he announced his run for New York’s 17th congressional seat.

The Assemblyman expressed his appreciation for the phone call he received this morning from Congressman Maloney.

“He was extremely gracious in his comments in conceding the election to me,” Lawler stated. “I want to say thank you to Congressman Maloney on behalf of the people of the Hudson Valley for his decade of service as a member of Congress representing so many communities across this district.”

Lawler went on to explain why he entered the race in the first place.

“I got into this race almost six months ago because of what was going on in our country and in this state… folks throughout this district, regardless of where they came from… most understand that we need to restore balance and common sense at every level of government, and I am excited by the opportunity to go to work on behalf of this community and this district and to stand up for our families… Whether you agree with my politics or not, I will do my level best to fight for your family to fight for your children to make sure that our voices are heard.
