A number of prominent askonim from the Airmont community were elected at the Airmont village meeting on Monday to important positions in the local government. In its first act, they struck down an outdated, nonsense law that had caused much aggravation and many fines for Airmont residents.

Prominent Askan R’ Shimi Moses was elected as Deputy Mayor of Airmont. R’ Moshe Menachem Friedman, R’ Pinchos Glauber, R’ Shimi Blumenberg, R’ Yanky Shimanowitz, and R’ Danny Friedman were elected to positions in the planning and zoning boards.

In its first act, the newly constructed village government struck down the “fire pit” law, which made it illegal to have any open fire outdoors if not for cooking purposes.

Members of the community expressed great satisfaction with their representation in local government, which looks forward to working alongside their colleagues to serving the needs of all Airmont residents.
