$4 Million Sale of Subdivision of 9.28 acres of the New York Country Club in New Hempstead

by Mindy Cohn
If you live in New Hempstead, rumors heralding the sale of the New York Country Club have flown thick and fast multiple times over the past fifteen years to the point that no one even bothers to take talk of a sale seriously anymore.
Despite no one taking rumors of a sale seriously, after fifteen years of dispute that included nine years of back-and-forth litigation, the New York Country Club finalized the sale of 9.28 acres of land in New Hempstead to Union Village, LLC. The four-million-dollar sale was subdivided from the golf course property. The 9.28 acres are expected to be developed into senior housing.
The sale of the 9.28 parcel at 618 Union Road comes after the 150-acre New York Country Club sale that took place early last year, as reported by Rockland Daily here. The bulk of the property was sold for $35 million to 103 Brick Church, LLC.
The proposed use of the land is to have the golf course re-zoned to allow for 344 single-family homes in that space while preserving the golf course's existing ponds and wetlands.
